Is there a method to mark projects complete but record the actual day that they were completed instead of today's date. If I do not get to logon every day then I have incorrect data in my reports because tasks that are shown as over running actually did not.

is there a way to add sub-tasks in a hierarchal fashion?

Hi I Would like to know if it is possible to set tasks predecessors and ancestors. It is a very needed feature, is there something like this implemented?

Yes, it is possible to set task predecessors. You can create task predecessors in the dependency view under Tasks & Milestones module.

1. Create tasks with duration i.e start & end date
e.g Task 1 (Dec 3 to Dec 4)
Task 2 (Dec 5 to Dec 6)
Task 3 (Dec 7 to Dec 8)

2. Click Dependency View tab.
3. Created tasks will be displayed in the chronological order as shown in step1.
4. Enter the serial number of Task1 in the predecessor column of Task2 to make the tasks (Task1 & Task2) dependent.
5. Once done Task1 will be the Parent & Task2 will be the child of Task1.

Similarly, you can create dependency between other tasks also.

Can you save the predecessor settings as a task template? I can save my task list and pull it up and use it again, but all of my predecessor settings do not save. It is extremely time consuming to have to input that information over and over again (considering it isn't the easiest thing to do in the first place) when you are managing several projects.

Due to design constraints, it is not possible to save predecessor settings in task template.

Can you add a task list template to a project while under the dependency view instead of individual tasks?

As of now, only individual tasks can be added under the dependency view of a project and not the task list template.

Is it possible to send tasks to the project task page via email, as it is in the planner application?

As of now, its not possible to send tasks to the project task page via email.

This option is taken up in our feature list and will be provided in future as per the priority.

Date format change is working fine. Steps to change the date format is mentioned below. Please verify whether you carried out the same steps or not.

1. Click "Settings" link on the top right corner of the window.
2. Click "Company Settings" tab
3. Click "Date Format Settings" and select the required date / time format.
4. Click "Update Format Settings" button.

Once done the date format will be changed.

If the date format fails to change after following the above mentioned steps, then send your contact number to support[at]zohoprojects[dot]com, so that I can contact you and look into the issue you face.

Is it possible to set a recurring task?

Example - I am doing e-mail marketing and want to send e-mails to a contact list once every 2 weeks on a Tuesday.

I want to create a recurring task occuring every 2 weeks Tuesday for the next 6 months.

I am aware that I can create a recurring event. But, this task of sending e-mails does not need to happen at a particular time on that date and if I do not complete the task, the task should remain so that I can cross it off the next day after I complete it.

Is this possible?
If not, is this a planned feature for the product?

How do I add description or notes to a task?

As of now, its not possible to have recurring task. Recurring task options is already taken up in our feature list and will be provided in future.

Follow the steps mentioned below to add notes to a task,

1. Click "Task Action" icon displayed to the right of the task.
2. Enter the required description/notes to the task.
3. Enter "Add Note" button.

Once done description will be added to the task.

Only tasks can be made dependent on each other.

Yes, you can create a task list template and use the template in various projects within the portal.

To create a task list template,

1. Click "Settings" link on the top right corner of the window
2. Click "Task Template" tab.
3. Click "New Task List Template" button.
4. Enter the Task list name and click "Add Task List Template" button.

Once created, follow the steps mentioned below to use the task list template for creating a new task list.

1. Click "Tasks & Milestones" tab.
2. Click "New Task list" button.
3. Click "choose from template" link.
4. Select the required template from the drop down
5. Select the related milestone and click "Add Task list" button.

i added a new milestone but it happened that i added 2 with similar title, i want to delete the other one, but unfortunately i wasn't able to do so, because the icon for delete did not appear when i moved the cursor over the title. Is there any other way to delete it?

Milestone can be deleted only be the Administrator, Project Manager & the milestone owner. If you are not an administrator, project manager or milestone owner then you cannot delete the milestone.


In that case, ask either the admin, manager or milestone owner to delete the milestone.


And as of now, milestone can be deleted only by clicking the red cross "delete" icon.

How can I complete a milestone with a date other than today's date? I have a project that includes a long period without network or even computer access, but some milestones will be completed during that time. The completed date should reflect that.

I read the posts about the date format settings and I updated them from the company setting tab. Problem is, the program is not coverting the dates properly when selecting from the calendar for tasks or milestones. For example, I selected the "MMM dd yyyy" format, then selected Jan 15, 2009 date, but that's not the date that appears. Instead, the milestone date appeared as 31 December 1969.

Also, to clarify my issue above, the conversion gets messed up after hitting the "update milestone" button.

When you go back to the newly saved milestone under "tasks and milestones" you'll see the date is incorrect. Something is wrong with the conversion.

If the due date of a task is changed, is there a way to flag what the old DD was so that we can see the difference between the two dates?

No. As of now, there is no option to flag the old due date in order to see the difference between the two dates (old and new due dates).

Whenever I click on Tasks & Milestones tab, I can't see the tasks's start date and end date on the same line. It is annoying to see only the end date of the task ( with the no. of days ) , whereas I am more interested in the Start End date. Please let me know if this is possible ( or else correct me if I am wrong ).

One of my users deleted a Milestone. Ooops. As you can imagine, it will be a real bummer if I have to re-add the Milestone and it's tasks.

Is there a way to restore deleted Milestones?!? Please let me know...

As of now, only the task's end date and the no.of days are displayed to the right side of the task. Displaying task's start date will be provided in future.

Yes, it is possible to retrieve the deleted milestone. Please let us know the milestone name, project to which it is associated, deleted date and your portal URL, so that we can try retrieving the milestone for you.

How do I reorder the milestones within my project?

As of now, milestones cannot be reordered. Only the task lists and the tasks can be reordered.

A manager can also edit the dates ,ownership of the milestone & tasks even if he is not the owner of the milestone or task , how to give user access to people denpending on the requirements
