how do you create dependencies?
@manish.s
Yes, it is possible to set dependency between tasks. To create task dependencies,
1. Go to Tasks & Milestone, Create tasks with duration. (i.e start & end date)
e.g: Task 1 (Dec 3 to Dec 4), Task 2 (Dec 5 to Dec 6).
2. Click Dependency View tab.
3. Created tasks will be displayed in the chronological order.
4. Enter the serial number of Task1 in the predecessor column of Task2 to make the tasks (Task1 & Task2) dependent.
5. Once done Task1 will be the Parent & Task2 will be the child of Task1.
Similarly, you can create dependency between other tasks also.
Thanks, Prasanna. I tried this but something is amiss here. Why / how should I to define a Start date when there is a dependency and a predecessor. I should be able to define predecessors without needing to enter a start date, shouldn't I.
Also, if I change the duration of a task, the child tasks' start and end dates should change to reflect this, rather than me having to go in by hand and change every start date.
manish, i also tried your suggestion but it does not work....
there is something wrong between
3. Created tasks will be displayed in the chronological order.
and
4. Enter the serial number of Task1 ...
How can I close a task with a date other than today's date? I have a project that includes a long period without network or even computer access, but some tasks will be completed during that time. The closed date should reflect that.
Is it possible to associate a meeting with a milestone or task?
@medtouchmain,
As of now, its not possible to associate meeting with milestone or task. Only the documents and forum posts can be associated with tasks.
Is it possible to create recurring tasks (tasks that repeat each day, week, month,..)?
Is it possible to create more than one alert (e-mail) for a task, so that the people involved may be notified at tha launching of the task and after that, until the end date reaches or the task is open?
Recurring tasks:
As of now, its not possible to create recurring tasks in Zoho Projects. Recurring task option will be provided in future as per the priority.
Email Alert:
Email notifications are sent to the users (Project Members) while creating/editing a task.
Can you send one task to all other people, but they have to finish it individually, that is, everyone has their own task. Now, if I create a task for 5 person, any one close the task, everyone's task was also closed, I want everyone close it by themself.
How do you "uncomplete" a task - as there is no edit functionality - I want to allocate time against a task I've just closed - but can't...
Where do you find the serial number for a task to enter in the predecessors column?
@ drbaggy,
Uncheck the check box to the left of completed task to reopen that task. Once done you can edit the task and then check the check box to complete the task.
@amanda_findology,
The serial number of a task will be shown to the left of the task in the Dependency View.
is it possible to use hours for a task, not only days?
@marco.deinl,
As of now, it is not possible to use hours for a task. Ability to use hours for a task will be provided in future as per the priority.
Thanks for the answer concerning the "hour problem". The question is, where the period can realize? Cause this is one of the important things for us to use the paid upgrade.
Thanks!
Dependencies: it is not useful to simply display dependencies between tasks. The power of creating dependencies lies in automatically setting task start and end dates based on only:
- project start date
- task durations
- dependencies
In this way, the critical path can be easily found, and the project completion date is automatically calculated. Start and end dates can be automatically updated for all tasks when a parent task is completed late.
Is this functionality available now? If not, is it planned for a future Zoho update? When do you expect it will be available?
Thanks.
Is it possible to create reminders for tasks and milestones that are approaching or past their due date?
Is there Outlook calendar integration in the newest release?
@dpanitch,
As of now, it's not possible to create reminder for tasks & milestones that are approaching or past their due date.

Is there a way to search in Projects?
Is there a way to search in Projects?
@Guest,
As of now, it's not possible to search in Projects but will be available in our upcoming update (Zoho Projects 2.0)
Is there a way to archive tasks and task lists? I saw that in the export function there is a drop down menu that allows you to export archived tasks and task lists, but I can't find how to actually archive them?
Is there a way to view the tasks allocated to a particular user for a particular project?
